Back in front of an audience, yes, but this time around a “Chaise longue”!
For its return to the Yoyo, Echoes once again brings the generations together and a strange coincidence links two of the guest artists around this story of a deckchair…
For this sixth edition, Jehnny Beth welcomes @Wet Leg, a band formed by two friends from the Isle of Wight, with their offbeat lyrics and music that are just as explosive as their success, a perfect example of which is the track “Chaise Longue”.
The young New Yorkers of Geese, who have just signed to Partisan Records, impress us with a mature style of rock that tips its hat both to Television and to Interpol, with a very distinctive assertiveness underpinning their surrealist lyrics.
Finally, @Baxter Dury, a London dandy reminiscent of Serge Gainsbourg, brings us his psychedelic seaside pop with its haunting cynical atmosphere… The three acts then get together under the Echoes spotlights to talk about the present, about growing up in England or New York and the ties that bind the musical generations, while Baxter Dury reveals the rock heritage of his father Ian, in his recently published biography entitled… “Chaise Longue”.
And yet none of their music invites us to rest; instead it awakens our senses to a passionate musical discovery in the perfect backdrop provided by the Echoes stage.
